Pemberton man acquitted of attempted murderā
A Pemberton Township man was acquitted Wednesday of attempted murder. Ronald Thompson, Bittner’s attorney, contended that although his client’s actions may have been “unadvisable,” he did not shoot at the officers or intend to harm them. He saw lights shining through the fence in his backyard and did not know they were officers, Thompson said. After deliberating for hours over two days, the jury acquitted Bittner of attempted murder, a first-degree crime punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, and of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
